Parent Participation Program & Parent Council
Parent Participation Program
Our community strives to have all DSAA families involved in the school’s activities through the Parent Participation Program. The participation of parents allows the school to offer a more diverse educational program while keeping tuition at an affordable level. Your talents, dedication and time are greatly appreciated by students and school staff alike!
How does the program work?
All jobs are not created equally
The parent participation system does not strive to make every job equal, but rather to make it possible for many parents to contribute to the extent their schedules allow and in a capacity that meets their interests and skills. Some jobs require more time than others, some need to be done during school hours, while others can be done from home.
Confirmation of job assignment
You will receive your job assignment no later than at the first day of school. In case of a scheduling conflict we ask you to find another DSAA family who might be able to trade assignments with you. The coordinator of Parents Participation Jobs will contact you during the first or second week of the school year to go over your job responsibilities, answer any questions you might have and discuss the time schedule. We ask that parents (or close family members who regularly bring your child to school) perform their assigned jobs themselves (no nannies or substitutes, please). We have designed this policy in the interest of all, to ensure accountability, personal connection, and continuity of school operations.
How does the program work?
- Our school offers a variety of jobs for different interests/skills.
- On the registration form each household will be asked to select their top three (3) jobs in the order of preference. Each household will be asked to perform only one job per school year.
- While we will make every attempt to accommodate your job preference, all positions have to be filled to maintain the quality of our program. If you do not indicate any job preferences, we will assign you where most needed.
- Although we hope that as many of you as possible can actively participate, we realize that this may not be feasible for some families and therefore we offer the alternative option of paying a “non-participation fee” ($150/family).
